If I seem to give a damn, please tell me.

Let me first inform you that I had a much better blog written earlier, but my computer froze! I lost it all. ALL OF IT. And below is the 2nd draft. I apologize in advance. Thanks a lot WordPress.

Annie James and Elizabeth James in The Parent Trap

In the words of Haythum R. Khalid, “If I seem to give a damn, please tell me. I would hate to be giving the wrong impression.” Now, why the hostility? The Royal Wedding, of course. I am so sick of hearing about the Royal Wedding. First, we are not British. Second, the British don’t care about Americans/American weddings! AND WHAT THE F DISNEY? You’ve got to be on some of that “Tinkerbelle dust”. That is just absurd. The closest I got to caring about anything related to weddings in the UK was in The Parent Trap because Annie’s mom was a wedding dress designer! What, did you forget about that? How dare you.

I am so sick of hearing about the wedding that I have stopped watching my Women-centric channels until the whole ordeal is over. The problem with that is sometimes, on late night TV, on channels that would normally NEVER care about a wedding, infomercials trying to sell me a replica of Middleton’s engagement ring come on. No, I do not want to buy that piece of trash for 19 dollars, 90 (Apparently that’s how the British guy says $19.90). I don’t CARE if it WAS 39 dollars, 90. It’s still a replica, and I still never wanted it. Thanks for trying.

Does the UK even care about American weddings? I didn’t think so. Did they care when Chelsea Clinton got married? And thinking about the Clinton family, DID THEY CARE ABOUT BILL CLINTON? The British do not care about anything American. Well, let me rephrase that… the British don’t care about anything aside from Disney World and McDonalds, but American weddings? Didn’t think so. But you know what? That’s okay because I don’t care about the addition of Kate to the Royal Family. Maybe if Kate herself came from royalty, but we’re not in the 1800s. Americans, care about something that impacts you. This wedding? No impact. In fact, it could negatively impact your sleep! And I’m sure this wedding is costing the British some pounds because I’m sure tax dollars are being used somewhere/somehow. This wedding is actually BAD for you! So do not give in. Do not watch. Get the recap at a normal time. There’s even a CNN section on it for crying out loud. Do not let this wedding take over your life! Don’t think I’m anti weddings. I do want to get married someday, but I just do not care about this one. Sorry W&K, you mean nothing to me!

Thinking about it, you know whose wedding I WOULD care about? Nicki Minaj and Drake. I would totally wake up at 4am to watch this. In fact, I would probably have a wedding party in honor of NM and Drake. These two are the prince and princess of the current world of Hip Hop and a marriage between them would be Hip Hop Royalty like the 1800s where princes married princesses.  Let’s make that happen world of Hip Hop. Suge Knight will foot the bill.

  2. Hahaha YES.
What’s funny is, right after we concluded this convo/posting marathon, I went to the gym and my trainer was talking to some British dude and I was like “Yo. Sup. What are you guys talking about” and he’s like “the Royal Wedding!” and I go, “I’m American. Nicki Minaj and Drake are MY royal couple.” No shame, no regrets, THIS IS HOW I FEEL.
